Bábovka is a traditional Czech coffee cake that would usually be served on a Sunday afternoon alongside with a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate (whichever you might prefer). It is quick, easy and pretty yummy!
There are various kinds of bábovka (classical vanilla-chocolate combination, walnut bábovka…) yet I opted for an all-chocolate one (cocoa powder to be precise). Follow the recipe below, if you would like to give the Czech bábovka a try… 😉

- 250 g sugar
- 125 g butter
- 10 g vanilla sugar
- 200 g flour
- 6 g baking powder
- 15 ml milk
- 40 g cocoa powder

- Separate egg yolks and egg whites
- Firstly mix together the egg yolks with sugar, vanilla sugar and butter
- Add flour, baking powder, milk and cocoa powder
- Whisk the egg whites until they are stiff
- Gently fold in the egg whites into the mixture
